mind map
Mind maps can turn out to be very useful in many ways, i.e. review sessions, remedial work, brainstorming and so on. I decided to structure this mind map so as to facilitate the topic we were studying. but I also decided to differentiate its use depending on the class. first I asked my students to produce a paragraph out of it (a sort of writing on notes). contrariwise, and in another class, I employed it as a guided note taking practice task. I asked in fact the students to complete and implement the mind map while reading a commenting a text with them.
here is an example of a paragraph written by a student (writing on notes).
The nuragic
complex of Sant’Imbenia formed by the nuraghe and the village. The nuraghe had
a square plane with large central tower called mastio and two smaller towers.
It was dated 1400BC and the excavations started in the 80s. The archeologist
found blocks of stone in the shape of T and a L used for build the top of the
nuraghe.
The village
was inhabited up to the bronze and iron age. It had theree tipes of huts: with
niches, with hoards and with basin. In the village there were dwellings,
temples and warehouses used by the people. Davide Canu IB

The nuraghe
The nuraghe, with a square plan, is dated in
1400BC and has been cleaned and studied but he archaeological excavations on
this site started in the 80s.
The complex is formed by a large central tower
called Mastio or Keep and two smaller towers.
During the excavations numerous blocks of stone
have been found in the shape of a T and a L.
The nuraghe is today considered a watching tower.
The village
The nuragic civilisation was born in Sardinia
around 15th century BC.
The village is formed by three huts: hut with a
niches, hut with a hoards (they found two amphorae inside) and hut with a basin
(also called because there is a big basin on the centre).
The nuragic village is considered a temple/house
of the tribe’s chief evolved but it was inhabited up to the Bronze and Iron
age.
